Vintage Pattern Simplicity 4873

I wanted to share the dress I made for Valentine's Day for my daughter. I know it's a little late but better late then never. I used a vintage Simplicity pattern that I bought while I was still pregnant with my little princess. This year I did something a little different. I picked out some fabric and patterns that I liked and let my daughter choose which fabric/pattern combo. If you follow me on Instagram then you got to see the choices a while back. The funny thing is my daughter picked out the same fabric/pattern combo that I wanted to use. Are we in sync or what?

I finished the dress a couple of days before Valentine's but since the fabric is pretty neutral she can wear it any day. I accidentally cut the bodice front upside down but I only didn't have any left over fabric to fix it. Oh well! I don't think it's that noticeable anyway, right?

I have never added lace before to a collar so it came out a little wonky in the back. Lesson learned, next time attach the lace to the collar BEFORE you sew the front and back pieces together. That's what I get for being lazy! I decided to use red bias tape for the arm holes and the collar since it's what I had on hand. I didn't want to brave a trip to Joann just for bias tape.

Isn't the pattern cover art beautiful? I really want to make the matching coat but since it's rarely cold here in AZ I doubt it will get much use.
