Cinnamon Tea Cake

I am a big fan of cakes, especially ones that go well with tea. I came across this recipe for cinnamon tea cake from Retro Mummy and I decided to try it out for our family gathering. It was incredibly easy to make and it tasted DELICIOUS! It was so light and fluffy yet moist and wonderful. Even my hubby who hates cinnamon loved this cake. I adapted the recipe to USA standard measurements and for use without a Thermomix.

Simple Cinnamon Tea Cake
Adapted from Retro Mummy
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • extra sugar for sprinkling
  • cinnamon
  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in eggs, milk, and vanilla and mix until combined.
  4.  Add in flour and mix until combined.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased cake 8 inch pan and sprinkle with a tablespoon or two of sugar then a good dusting of cinnamon.
  6. Bake in a 350F oven for about 30 minutes until the center is cooked. Be careful that the top doesn’t burn.
  7. Remove cake from the pan and place on a cooling rack until cool.
