Spiderman Doll Sew Along Day 2

After your pattern pieces have been cut it's time to start creating the Spiderman details for our doll. The first thing we need to do is to create the eyes then the spider. For the eyes I cut a half circle out of black felt. Then I cut a smaller half circle out of white felt.

I then used white embroidery thread and used a running stitch to attach the white part to the black part. After the eyes were done I cut out the spider out of black felt. I free handed it, as you can tell its not perfect. The next step, and the most time consuming in my opinion, is to create the webbing. You will need to do this for the glove, shoe, front red, and head pieces.

To create the webbing on the head pieces I used my marking pen and drew a line down the middle horizontally and vertically. Then I drew two more lines diagonally so I had eight quadrants. I then drew two circles, one smaller than the other. Once I was done marking the lines I used black thread and sewed where my lines were.

For the rest of the pieces you will create the webbing look the same way. I drew a line down the middle of my piece. I then spaced the rest of the lines about 1/2 an inch to an inch apart. I then weaved the perpendicular lines instead of sewing them straight.

Once your webbing is done you can place your eyes on your front head piece and sew in place.

For the front shirt piece I sewed the blue and red pieces together using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, remember to press your seam open once done. I then placed my spider where desired and sewed it in place. Tomorrow I will go over the directions for assembling your doll.
