Hawaii Recap Part 2

I wanted to share with you a couple of great places to eat by the north shore and some tips for buying souvenirs. First I will start with the food, my favorite. My favorite shave ice place to eat at is Waiola Shave Ice by Waikiki, they are hands down the BEST! Since we were staying on the other side of Hawaii we went to Matsumoto's. They are very famous and also delicious. Make sure you try the ice cream and condensed milk, my daughter loved it.

We also tried a new place this time, Ice Gardens. I had the custard with mochi. It was very good but not as good as the other two places and they only take cash. A new place we discovered this time around was Ted's Bakery by Sunset Beach. They have KILLER food, the best mahi mahi I have ever eaten, and they are a top notch bakery. The creme pies were to die for and the place smells like heaven. Another great place is Giovanni's shrimp truck. They also only accept cash and the plate is pricey, $13, but it was delicious. Make sure you sign the truck too!

One of the main reasons I look forward to Hawaii is the McDonald's apple pie. Now I know what you are thinking, you can get that anywhere, but you're wrong. Hawaii still sells the old school apple pies, the ones with the flaky crust they use to sell before they changed the recipe. I try to control myself but I eat at least 2 apple pies everyday, I wish I could have one now!

Of course I had to stop and get myself some Hawaiian fabrics. The best place I found was Hawaii Fabric Mart. They had such an amazing selection, I almost bought the whole store. They have such great prices, most fabrics are 3.99 and 4.99 a yard, and they carry a wide range of Japanese fabrics. If you are going to be bringing back coffee and chocolates I highly recommend going to Food Land then Longs for those items. We were able to get Lion brand coffee at Food Land for 3.99 a bag and the chocolates for 2.59 a box at Longs. Hope these tips help, Aloha!
