Stained Glass Cookies

Sorry for my absence last week, tomorrow is my daughter's birthday and I have been busy planning her parties. She is having not one but TWO parties this year and I have been swamped. I have been wanting to make stained glass cookies since I saw the idea last year. Since my daughter is having a princess theme this year I decided it would be a good time to try them out.

They look really cute except they are a little burned on the edges. I always forget that my oven cooks faster than the recommended time sine it's gas. Oh well!

To make these cookies I used a sugar cookie mix and added pink food coloring. I used a circle cookie cutter to cut the cookies out. If the cookie dough gets too soft put them in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to harden them up. Once they are ready use a smaller cookie cutter, I used a star, to cut out the middle of your cookie.

Take some hard candy, I used butterscotch candy, and break it into smaller pieces. I placed all of my candy in a ziploc bag and crushed it with a hammer. Fill the middle of your cookie with the crushed candy.

Bake as normal. Once the cookies have cooled you can remove them from the cookie sheet.
