Earth Day Caterpillar

The city I live in held an Earth Day Festival today for all the kids. My daughter had a wonderful time petting the animals and enjoyed all the great crafts they had. One of her favorites was the caterpillar made out of a plastic water bottle. I decided to share it with you since it's a great kids craft.

I added wings to our caterpillar, it reminded me of Heimlich from Bug's Life, but you can also add feet.

Take an empty water bottle and remove the label. I didn't dry the inside of mine but you can if you want to. Using your scissors cut a small hole at the top of the bottle by the end, this will hold the antenna.

Next stuff your water bottle with paper. We used colorful tissue paper but you can use newspaper, magazines, or even junk mail. Once you have stuffed it insert pipe cleaners into the top hole for the antenna.

Cut eyes and a mouth out of construction paper and glue on. My daughter loved using the glue stick, she even glued her fingers! To make the wings cut a strip of construction paper and fold it in half. Glue one half to the bottle and glue tissue paper to the other half.
