Using Photoshop on Portraits

If you have had your picture taken by a professional photographer than you know they edit the pictures using Photoshop to make them look better. If you want a simple way to make your picture pop then you can add a soft blur effect to them. It's very easy to do and it will really make a difference.

This is my wreath picture using the soft blur effect, looks ten times better. In order to do this open your picture in Photoshop. Then go to Layer -> Duplicate Layer, using the default name is fine. Next Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur. For this picture I set my radius to 3.5, just enough to give it a slight blur. Finally set the opacity of the layer to 50%. That's it!

This is the original picture of the wreath, the before. As you can tell there is a soft blur and it really makes the wreath look better. Make sure you save your picture as a .jpeg or .gif if you are going to send it to be printed or uploaded.
