Christmas Tree

I made this Christmas tree to enter in the Holiday Scrap Challenge and I am finally getting around to posting the tutorial. This tree is made out of fabric scraps, a cone, and some hot glue. Let's begin.

First you will need to make lots of ruffles, tutorial here. I made all of my scraps one inch wide. You will need a variety of lengths so just use what you have. I didn't finish the edges because it wasn't fraying much, I just snipped off the threads.

After you have your ruffles, beginning at the bottom of your cone start wrapping one ruffle around the cone. I used pins to hold the ruffle in place while I wrapped it around the cone. Once you are happy with your ruffle placement use your glue gun to glue the ruffle in place.

Continue adding your ruffles, one at a time, until you have reached the top of your cone. I added two bows at the top of my tree, one for each side.

To make the bottom part of the bow cut two strips 1/2 inch by 4 inches. Fold them in half and glue the two ends together. Glue these pieces to the top of your tree.

To make the bow I got a piece of fabric 3 inches by 5 inches. Fold it in half and use your fingers to squish the middle making your bow, I put some glue in the middle to hold the bow in place. Then wrap a piece of ribbon around the middle and glue the two ends together. Glue your ribbon on top of the tree.

This is the completed tree without the stand. I am thinking about making another one since I have another cone and TONS of scraps.
