A Shirt for Me

I decided to sew a shirt for myself because I needed something new and I couldn't find anything I liked at the store. I envisioned this very simple scoop neck shirt. I bought this fabric from the clearance section at Joann. I got to work measuring myself and cutting my shirt out. Of course I didn't realize until after I had cut the first piece that I had done the math wrong, why am I not surprised. I decided to go ahead and sew it anyway since I knew this was just a practice shirt.

I do like the way it came out, even though it wasn't long enough and it was a little snug. Had it fit properly I would have worn it with a more fitted pant since the top is a little voluminous.

I used white thread since it was already threaded on my machine, lazy I know, and I didn't even bother to finish the seams. The sleeve was a little too open, kind of reminded me of a weird bell. I think this shirt would work better in a knit fabric since it would hug my curves better. I am really excited to try it again in a knit and hopefully it will fit properly!
