DIY Wool Dryer Balls

My husband and daughter have very sensitive skin so I began using wool dryer balls about a year ago. I liked the ones I purchased, two for $6, but they didn't last as long as I expected them too. After some googling I found a great tutorial and I decided to make my own. I used my 50% off Joann coupon and got my yarn for $5.50. Depending on the size of your balls you can make between five and six balls with 8 oz yarn.

I made my balls while I watched TV and I finished them in one night. These will make great Christmas or bridal shower gifts. I learned a few things while making these ball. You will need to wrap these balls very tightly or they will unravel. You will also need to use a crochet hook, the ball will be wrapped too tightly to use your fingers, when sticking the yarn back inside the ball.

If you use socks to wrap your balls when you felt them, turn the sock inside out before you put your balls in. If not you will end up with cotton fuzz all over your balls. I already used one ball on my whites and they worked great!
