October is Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and as some of you may know my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer this year. She is still recovering from her treatment and even though it's been a year of ups and downs she is doing well. Some of you may not know how expensive cancer treatments are, think in the $50,000 range at the very least, and some people don't have life insurance. What are they to do? The Susan G. Komen foundation provides grants to these people as well as resources and support groups to everyone.

This month you will see lots of pink items at stores that when purchased a portion of the proceeds will go to this great foundation. Please help by buying these items when you can or if you live in Florida you can participate in the Catalinas coupon campaign. Also please remember to do your monthly self breast exam and to get your yearly mammogram, it could save your life.
