My New Serger

My new serger, Brother 1034D, arrived a couple of weeks ago and it's been sitting in the box ever since, not sure why. I finally decided to rip it open and read the instruction manual.

Here it is out of the box, it even came threaded SCORE! I watched some of the instructional videos, shot in the 1980's apparently, and I got enough courage to try it out. Look for a post tomorrow on my first project.

I was amazed at how fast the machine went, I was warned in the instructional manual, and how much noise it made. I hope it doesn't wake the baby up since I usually do most of my sewing at night. I am not sure what most of the buttons on this side do but the factory settings seemed to work properly so I didn't have to change much.

I am VERY intimidated by threading this machine. I watched the video on how to do this and it only made me feel less confident. I think I will try the little shortcut they showed in the video before I try threading it manually.

  1. I'm so envious! I'm wanting a serger so bad...and actually I'm wanting this same one! It's on my Christmas list and my Amazon wish list. :) Look forward to seeing you learn and can't wait to see what you make using it.
