My First Garden

My parents love gardening and I grew up helping them tend their garden, I loved it. When we had our backyard landscaped I only had one request, I want a space to plant my garden, and I finally was able to start it last weekend.

I got some seeds from a local nursery, and thanks to a nice gentleman, I got some great advice on which ones would work best to plant right now. I decided on lettuce, carrot, onion, cilantro, broccoli, and cauliflower. I still have some space left over so I might go to home depot and see what plants they have available.

So far only the broccoli and cauliflower have started to flower. I came up with this Plant Log to help me keep track of what plants did well this season. I also made some cheap garden signs. I bought a piece of wood at Joann and cut it into four inch squares. I painted it with primer and then chalkboard spray paint. When they were dry I glued some popsicle sticks to the back. I can easily change the sign names now whenever I put in new plants. I also started my compost bin, hopefully that goes well since I am still kind of unsure about it.
