Circus Birthday Party

My daughters second birthday party was this weekend and this year I did a circus theme. Since I knew I would be short on time I spent the last month getting everything ready. A special thanks to my little sisters who helped me get the favors and decorations ready, you are the yin to my yang. We had the party at a jump place close to our house, I figured it would be a good way to get the kiddos tired, and it was a blast.

I ended up making cupcakes and a small cake. The cupcakes were yellow cake and the frosting was a chocolate chip mousse, it was SUPER YUMMY. The cake was the same flavor/frosting with a marshmallow fondant. I made everything from scratch, even the clowns. It took a little more time than I had originally planned but it was well worth it.

The table decorations were simple and edible. I found these plastic bowls at target and I filled them with styrofoam and covered that with tinsel (using hot my hot glue gun). I then made chocolate pops (balloons, circus tents, and elephants) and clown cake pops.

I found these Wilton circus themed picture cake toppers at Joann, on clearance for 25 cents!, and I framed them inside some cheap dollar frames. I used some yellow craft paper as a background for them, I just taped the cake topper on.  I hung up the birthday banner I made along the back wall using the new Command hooks.

I think I should have colored the orange a little brighter, but overall I was very happy with the cake. My daughter loved the royal icing clowns, I think they were her favorite part of the cake. The party favors were pretty simple. I put some stickers, juice, animal crackers, and animal foam puppets in each bag for the kiddos. I made some red, white, and blue korker bows to match her bubble romper. It was a wonderful day!
