Cake Decorating Bags

I am taking a cake decorating class with my little sister's at Joann and I have learned a lot the last 2 classes. I don't have any cake decorating experience, unless you count watching Cake Boss, and I was surprised that the bags don't come ready to use. I decided that I would do a post on how to prep your cake decorating bags. Disposable and reusable bags are prepped slightly differently.

You will need a cake decorating bag, disposable or reusable, and a coupler which has 2 parts.

For a disposable bag
Step 1: Take the long coupler piece and place it in your bag as far down as it will go.

Step 2: Place your scissors underneath the threading, I think that's what it's called, and go all the way around.

Step 3: You should be able to just pull off the top part now.

Step 4: You can now screw the ring on.

For a reusable bag
Step 1: Take the long coupler piece and place it in your bag as far down as it will go.

Step 2: Make a mark with your pen where the threading begins. Remove the coupler.

Step 3: Using your scissors cut a straight line across where you made your mark. Be sure you cut straight. If you cut to much off your bag will not be usable. Place your coupler back in the bag.

Step 4: You can now screw the ring on.

Once you have your bags ready you will be able to switch out the decorating tips very easily. I plan on doing a post next week on decorating a cake using an image/picture.
