Cake Pops

I was introduced to cake balls by my sister-in-law. She baked me a cake and some cake balls for my 30th birthday and they were delicious. What is a cake ball you might ask? Well it's bite size cake mixed with frosting. I had never heard of cake balls, where have I been, but apparently they are very popular. A couple of weeks later I came across Cake Pops by Bakerella at Target.

This book covers the basics, cake balls and cake pops, and gives some great decorating tips. It also has a lot of fun cake pops you can make.

The basic cupcake cake pop, although I have no idea why you wouldn't just make a cupcake but it's still cute. The book also covers lots of great events that cake pops would be perfect for.

Such as Valentine's Day,

or a wedding,

and a baby shower.

I also thought I should include these cute owl pops just because they are adorable. For Craft Sunday this week we are going to attempt to make some basic cake pops using the store bought cake/frosting. I really want to experiment with homemade cake and frosting though because the store bought stuff isn't always the best tasting stuff. I am not going to attempt to make anything this fancy just a simple pop with a heart in honor of Valentine's Day. I'll let you know how they turned out next Monday.
