Save More Project: Monthly Budget Worksheet

With the Christmas season fast approaching, I have noticed that I have been spending more and saving less. That darn debit card is so convenient to use, I lose track of how much I have spent. I decided to do a Save More Project series over the next couple of weeks.

First things first, I needed to come up with a monthly budget. By writing down how much I spent and what I spent it on I realized that we can cut down on some areas to put more away in our savings. It is hard for me to stay within a budget sometimes, I always justify my overspending in one area by underspending in another area. This type of thinking is sabotaging me! In order to fix this I decided to use CASH when I go shopping so I can limit my spending. I will cover my cash envelope system in a later post.

Your homework for this week is to come up with a monthly budget for yourself. Analyze what you spend your money on and how much money you spend. Decide if there are any areas that you can spend less on in order to put more into savings.
