Classic Cranberry Sauce

I usually celebrate Thanksgiving at my mom's house and I bring over the cranberry sauce and one dessert. I still haven't decided what dessert I am going to be making this year, I was thinking of making a custard pie but I'm not 100% sure yet. The cranberry sauce is so easy to make and it only takes 15-20 minutes.

1 package (12 oz) of fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water

1. In a saucepan, on medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the water and bring it to a boil.
2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the cranberries and simmer until the cranberries start to pop, about 10 minutes.
4. Remove from heat. Note: The cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools.
